Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ page! Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about purchasing, downloading, and sewing our digital doll clothing patterns. If you need help that’s not listed here, feel free to reach out anytime.

About the Patterns

What kind of patterns do you sell?

All of our patterns are digital PDF sewing patterns designed for 14.5–19″ dolls. Patterns are drafted by Bella Katella for Little Doll Threads.  They include step-by-step photo instructions, full-size pattern pieces, and beginner-friendly guidance. Some of the tricky steps have Video links inside the pattern.

Are any physical items shipped?

No. All items on Little Doll Threads are digital downloads only. Nothing physical will be mailed.

Purchasing & Downloading

How do I download my pattern?

After checkout,  you will be sent back to this site to download your patterns. If you have a member account, your files will also be saved under My Downloads.

I  closed the browser before coming back here. How can I get the things I purchased?

You will also get an email with links to download. Check your spam or promotions folder. If you still don’t see it, contact us and we’ll resend your files.

How many times can I download a pattern?

You have 3 times to download for personal use. We suggest downloading when you purchase and saving the files to a secure location.

Printing Help

How do I print the pattern at the correct size?

Print using Actual Size or 100% scaling. Do not select “Fit,” “Shrink,” or “Scale to Fit.”  If you need a program to read the PDF,  Adobe Reader is available for Mac & PC and is a free program which can be  download from here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/

How can I make sure my printer is correct?

Every pattern includes a 1″ test square. Print page 1 and measure the square before printing the rest.

Can I print the pattern on A4 paper?

Yes! Our files work with both US Letter and A4. Just be sure the printer scaling is set to 100%.

Can I print from a phone or tablet?

Yes, but some mobile devices force auto-scaling. For best accuracy, we recommend printing from a laptop or desktop.

Pattern Sizing & Fit

What dolls do these patterns fit?

Our patterns are drafted for most 14.5″–19″  dolls. Each listing includes specific fit details. We sell patterns that will fit American Girl, Our Generation, 18″ ILY4Ever, Journey Girls, I’m a Girly, Happy Kidz, Little  Kidz, Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Wellie Wishers, Glitter Girls, Hearts for Hearts Dolls, which all have their own categories. 🙂

My doll has a different body type—will it still fit?

Some styles may work across different bodies, but snug-fitting garments may need small adjustments. We try to note this in each pattern listing. Your best best will be to measure your doll against the measurements in the pattern.

Fabric & Supplies

What fabrics work best for your patterns?

Most patterns include fabric recommendations, but commonly used choices are:

  • Cotton woven (quilter’s cotton)

  • Lightweight knits (for tees & leggings)

  • Felt (for accessories)

  • Satin, tulle, chiffon (for dressier looks)

  •

Do I need special needles or tools?

A basic sewing kit is enough! For tiny seams, a few helpful extras include:

  • Microtex needles

  • Fabric clips or small pins

  • Fray-check

  • Tweezers or hemostats

Can these patterns be hand-sewn?

Yes! Many members hand-sew their doll clothes. Choose cotton fabrics and avoid slippery fabrics if you’re a beginner.

Skill Levels & Tutorials

Are these beginner-friendly?

Yes! Many patterns are designed with beginners in mind, and include step-by-step photos.

Do you offer video tutorials?

We offer occasional video guides and sewing tips on our membership site. Patterns themselves include full photo instructions.

Pattern Use & Licensing

Can I sell items made from your patterns?

Yes! You may sell handmade items created from our patterns in small batches. Please credit Little Doll Threads as the designer.
You may not mass-produce or sell/re-distribute the digital patterns.

Can I share the PDF with a friend?

No. The pattern is for personal use only. However, you can send them a link so they can purchase their own copy.

Tech Help

The PDF won’t open—what do I do?

Make sure you’re using an up-to-date PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat (free). Some older apps on phones/tablets struggle with  files.

Can I use the patterns on my tablet for tracing?

Absolutely! Many sewists open the pattern on a desktop or a large tablet and trace directly from the screen onto pattern paper or freezer paper. Make sure your zoom is set to 100%
